Time to get back at it!!

It has been such a long time since I worked on any of my DJ blocks. I had a bunch prepared and sitting in little baggies just waiting -- I don't know why it has been so long. I hope that I don't have too many long stretches of time off my DJ or I will never get it completed. Anyway I started back on Friday with -- "One two buckle my shoe" Boy there are a lot of pieces in this one!!

When I was out at the fabric by the pound sale in August I bought a few bits of fabric for the DJ quilt as well. They didn't have much in the way of the civil war era fabric for sale there but I did find one nice little collection. I also had bought a couple of fat quarters in my summer travels as well.

I am getting quite a collection of fabrics. I hate to buy the fat quarters because you really only need a fat eighth to make a block - and sometimes even less. It is very difficult to find fat eighths. I see there are a couple of shops in Oregon that have civil war fabrics and maybe they have fat eighths. Another good reason to shop :)))

Happy to see you are working on your DJ again! Your blocks are so lovely - this will be a beauty!

Hope I can get some prep-work in today :o)

very difficult to find Fat eigths. I need more orange and yellows for mine. I should really sit down and go through my fabrics and see about swapping with fellow DJ'ers who are using civil war prints.

I love the step by step picture!

There were a couple of shops that sold fabric specifically for DJ and they probably were eighths. Not sure, because I don't generally buy things online. I have bought fat quarters or long quarters for dj, and I probably have more than I need - not just because of the large size - but also, whenever I do splurge shopping, I wind up getting something for this quilt.
I was looking for your block in the book, and of course I started in the back! It is a pretty block to make, and relatively easy because the parts are easy, although you have to be careful in lining up the points around the circle.

I like the blocks with lots of pieces, that are relatively easy, so I can increase my numbers quickly. Get to that 5602!

Happy to see you are making a DJ block again. It's the first time I look at a DJ block in progress and all those tiny pieces.

first time I've visited this blog of yours--have been to your other one several times. And OMIGOSH! Did you take that picture of your block at MY house? It looks EXACTLY like how I do mine! I draw my templates on freezer paper, then iron them on the fabric, trace around them...and hand sew them. I have one of those little ring pincushions! reading glasses! snips! and put them all in a little sandwich baggie! Too funny! And I too--have been VERY neglectful of my DJ--maybe this will inspire me to get my tush in gear and get going on it again. I'm doing them in order and I prepare one complete row at a time. Then when the blocks are done for that row, I sew them all together. I'm over halfway through--but I should be farther along than what I am! LOL
